I have since added the color filter set, Variable Polarizing Filter (lunar filter), AC/DC power cords (did not come with these) the Autostar Suite and computer cords, and a electronic eyepiece.

I also added the eyepiece upgrade from Meade thus giving me a total of 8-eyepieces. When I bought mine for a upgrade of $150 from the base price of $425, I got the Autostar Controller, the Dew Shield, right angle view finder, 2x Barlow, Deluxe field tripod w/carrying case, the 45-degree Erecting Prism, and the hard carrying case.
Unless you find the scope new-in-the-box for any of the older models (RA, EC, PE) don't pay anything over $400.00 USD for it unless you are getting a lot of accessories. where I am constantly adjusting the scope anyway (someone will almost always kick the tripod) and need something quick and easy. I use the Electronic Controller for small star parties at local schools, etc. I actually have two Autostar controllers. The Autostar works great with this scope. Īctually, I have problems with the Electronic Controller which Meade dropped with the PE edition. Knowing what I know now, I would have gotten one of those tabletop dobs in the article linked to the right. The optics weren't great, but the ETX-90 should be better. It was only $100, which wasn't bad, and at least it let me see enough to know I like sitting in the dark looking at stars. I learned my way around the sky, and the ETX mount was holding me back. I thought I'd need that computerized mount to find my way around the sky, but within a few months it became more hassle than it was worth. I wound up mostly using it as a dumb Alt-Az mount, using the hand controller to move it around like you'd push a dob. The 3-star setup rarely worked well, and even on on the occasions it did, the resulting image was jumpy while the mount was tracking. As a newbie, I found the mount a pain in the ass to use. I had an ETX-80, which is the same mount but a 80mm refractor.
